Material:
|
- 1 gallon Zip Lock Baggie
- 1 gallon water
- Food coloring
- Pencil (Sharpened)
|
| Directions: |
- Fill the baggie with the water, put in food coloring for effect. Zip the baggie. Call a
willing victim from the audience. Explain that if they really believe in Polymer science
that I will be able to put the pencil through the zip baggie and no water will come out.
Proceed with gently pushing the pencil into the baggie and come out the other side. If
done properly - no water will leak out - until you pull the pencil out of the bag.

- Note: This is an extension activity for the Balloon and Skewer
activity. The scientific principle of polymers holds true for this activity as well.
